About Our Sustainability Journey
Sweet Bones was born from a shared vision between co-owners Emily and Russell Brindley—a vision rooted in compassion, conscious living, and leading by example. From the very beginning, Sweet Bones has stood for purpose-driven hospitality, serving up a plant-based food menu and partnering with values-aligned organisations like Little Oak Sanctuary to support animal welfare beyond the walls of our café.
Environmental sustainability has always been part of our ethos, too. We’ve made mindful choices like sourcing local and sustainable ingredients, reducing our reliance on fossil fuel-based plastics, and composting portions of our organic waste. But we’re the first to admit: there’s always more to learn, and always more we can do.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Flourish and Flour— a blog and budding business created by our longtime General Manager, Shannon Butler. Through this collaboration, we’re working to grow and deepen our sustainability practices while also using our platform to inspire others. We’re lucky to be surrounded by a community that cares, and we’re excited to keep exploring ways we can tread more lightly on the planet we all call home.
